About Neka
"Be the change you wish to see in the world", a quote I came across years ago and took to heart has become part of the foundation to my work as a therapist. I practice a person-centered approach where I truly believe the client to be the expert of their self and view myself as what I like to call 'a partner in thought'. My goal is to support clients in their healing and introspective journeys by offering unconditional positive regard, sincere support, and utilization of my own knowledge and therapeutic skills to sort through their experiences and find what works for them. I also enjoy incorporating a bit of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness practice into working with clients as I find these to be helpful ways to promote regulation and increasing emotional insight.
I have five years of clinical/therapeutic experience and have made building strong rapport and understanding in the therapeutic alliance as primary pillars for holding up the work done in therapy. I started out working in treatment for substance abuse and mental health at the PHP level of care. I worked my way up through different levels within the treatment field and gained experience with varying populations, commonly working with veterans and first responders, individuals with a history of experiencing chronic homelessness, individuals with co-occurring addiction and mental health concerns, and individuals with complex trauma just beginning to unravel the depth of their experiences. Whatever the reason for seeking therapy, come as you are and I'll join you as an encourager in your path to growth and healing!
