My focus of counseling is to build a safe, trusting relationship with each client with acceptance and without judgment to promote positive change.

I specialize in Experiential, Solution-Focused, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy and conduct couples counseling. I have experience as a family therapist, working with the unique dynamics of each family. I specialize in play therapy and conduct ADHD assessments. Courtney Simon, LMFT
Individual Counseling for Children and
Adults, Couples, and Family

I attended Lee University where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 2011 and Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2014.  After grad school, I moved to Florida and spent 7 years working as a therapist  in Juvenile Programs with the Department of Juvenile Justice.

In 2021, I joined the Healing Transitions team where I can bring a relational approach to therapy. I find that healing comes through the development of healthy relationships and appropriate boundaries. I utilize Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I have ten years of experience providing counseling in the community and I enjoy working with ALL ages. I enjoy seeing the change experienced through play therapy and giving children their happiness back. I also utilize parenting and co-parenting techniques in helping parents navigate the hardest job in the world. I enjoy helping teenagers transition from child to adulthood and everything in between. I have experience with depression, self-harm, anxiety, trauma, adjustment disorders, conduct disorders, criminal behaviors, and addiction. I have recently found my love of bringing couples closer in their relationships and helping them heal from past experiences and bringing the emotional connection back into their relationship.

My fascination and desire for understanding human behavior prompted me to study Psychology. I earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and graduated from Capella University with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  I am bilingual in English and Spanish; therefore I also work with the Spanish speaking community.

I help individuals get through challenging moments in their lives, as well as diagnose and treat mental illnesses in my clients. I assist my clients, who include children, adolescents, adults, and families, in developing healthy self-perceptions as calm, whole, and secure. I enjoy working with children and adults to help them discover their life's purpose and learn and understand how to lead the life they have always wanted. I use several strategies to help individuals overcome and manage ADHD, depression, anxiety, and trauma, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt Play Therapy, mindfulness techniques, self-esteem building, inner child work, mood management, stress reduction, and work-life balance.
